Temporarily Stop Bookings

A restaurant may opt to temporarily suspend online bookings for a specific date range due to various reasons. This could include hosting private events or functions, managing limited seating availability during high-demand periods, addressing staffing constraints or undergoing renovations or maintenance. Tapa Reservations can block specific dates or time ranges, preventing customers from making online reservations during the designated period.


Option 1: Table Close Outs

Table Close Outs allows restaurants to temporarily close out entire Table Areas or specific individual tables for reservations during certain times.

  1. After signing in to the Back Office select >Settings > Tables and then select Areas and a list of your Table Areas are displayed.

  2. To edit the settings of a Table Area click the ‘Edit’ (pencil icon) beside the required area.

  3. From the Table Area screen navigate to Table Close Outs on the left hand side.

  4. Simply select the Date From and choose the Date and Time that you want to close bookings from and then select Date To to choose the Date and Time when the bookings will reopen and then ‘Save’.

  5. After adding the Table Close Outs select the ‘Save’ button to save the Table Area.

  6. Select ‘Update Tills’ from the main screen and ‘Send Changes’ to apply the Close Outs to the point-of-sale and reservations widget.

Note: By leaving the Tables selection blank all online bookings for this Table Area will be disabled, alternatively you can choose individual Tables to close bookings for only certain tables.


Option 2: Time Profile Exceptions

Time Profiles are set against each Service, Exceptions can be added to a time profile so that the profile does not apply during the exception period set. (To determine which Time Profile a Service uses the following article may be useful)

  1. To add an Exception to a Time Profile select >Settings > Time Profiles

  2. Click the ‘Edit’ icon beside the Time profile that an Exemption is required for.

You can then add Exceptions which are temporary closures for a range of specific dates.

  1. Select the Date From and Time From that you want to close bookings from and then select Date To and Time To to choose when the bookings will reopen and select the ‘Generate Slots’ button.

  2. After adding the Exceptions select the ‘Save’ button to save the Time Profile.

  3. Select ‘Update Tills’ from the main screen and ‘Send Changes’ to apply the time profile changes to the point-of-sale and reservations widget.

Note: The widget browser must be refreshed to view the changes. Please allow up to two minutes for any changes to apply.
