Promotion Examples

Promotions section is used to set any discounts, offers and promotions that can be triggered by the point-of-sale or ordering App. The promotions app is very flexible and can trigger automatically based on conditions being met and can result in an Outcome. Promotions can be manually triggered by selecting the promotion on the point-of-sale or by entering a promo code on the ordering app.

This article will give different examples of promotions that can be added. It will also show examples working in the POS and how to manually apply the promotion on the POS.

In all of the examples the conditions and outcomes will be set to match those of your company. These must match the groups, departments and products that have been set up on your back office.

Function Buttons

The promotion function button is located in the function option in the POS at the top of the screen and the promotion button on the function screen. This will be needed when manual promotions are being added.Below shows the buttons you will need.

Applying Percentage

A simple discount can be applied as a promotion against all items that qualify. For example, you may wish to apply a 10% discount to all products, the easiest way is to select the groups that you wish to apply this discount is against. e.g. Food and Drink group, so any products linked to departments in these groups will be discounted.

Outcome action should be set to the percentage you want to apply, select Percent Off. You can add a prompt if you want but it is not required for the promotion. You set the apply to Items.The max value and max type can be added if you want but is not required.

If the auto apply is not selected and you would prefer to manually add the promotion. This can be done on the POS. First you sell the product you would like to add the promotion to. As this promotion is attached to items and not the basket multiple items(products) can be sold and it will not affect the promotion.

Mix and Match Promotion

A mix and match promotion can be applied when certain products have been sold. For example, you may wish to set a price when a certain number of items have been purchased e.g. Buy four beers for £10.

Setting the outcome. The action is set to 10(for the example) it can be set to any amount. From the drop down select value. The max value and the max type does not have to be set for this to work. The Apply to is set to items. Below is an example of the promotion.

Discounted Percentage A discount percentage can be applied but limited by the number of guests. e.g. You may wish to apply a 50% discount to all food products but limit the discount to a maximum of £10 per person.

Creating the promotion, the condition would be set to group and set to any, here you can choose the appropriate group, the example is Food. It must be enabled and have discountable selected for the promotion to work.

The outcome of the promotion is set next. The action is set to 50 and the drop down option is percent off. This is applied to items. For this promotion the max value and max type are set. The max value is 10 and max type is per cover. This means that for one cover on the table with items those group is food will receive 50% discount for the value of £10. Below is how the promotion will look in the back office.

Cheapest Item Free A discount can be applied depending on the price of a product. e.g you may not the cheapest item to be free on the sale. This can be a automatic or manual discount. Two products will be sold and the cheapest of those products will be free. Multiple items can be attached, this will also work for Buy 2 get 1 free. You just need to attach the appropriate condition for you.

Creating the promotion, first the conditions must be set. The condition type is product , any and 1. Next you select the product you would like attached for the promotion, for the example PROMO EXPENSIVE is selected. file

Next step is to add the other condition that will complete the promotion the cheapest item.The new condition is an AND condition this is added by clicking add a new condition. The condition type is product, any and 1 item for the example is PROMO CHEAPER. file

The outcome is set next, the action will be 100 percent off and Apply to set to Cheapest item. Max value and Max type are not needed for this promotion.
