Barstock Exchange Integration

About

Barstock Exchange turns a venue into a stock market for an evening with a selection of food and drinks prices changing every few minutes based upon what customers are buying.

You can learn more about the system at drinkexchange.co.uk

Integration

The primary functionality is to allow for rapid price changing in Tapa directly on the terminal in order to operate in as real-time as possible matching that of a stock market. Quantities of sold products are also sent back to Barstock Exchange in real time.

  • Tapa will poll for price changes on Barstock Exchange every 10s
  • Tapa will send transaction item quantities to Barstock Exchange per each finalised transaction
  • POS terminals can be enabled for the integration individually
  • Not all products have to be part of the integration

Configuration

  1. Input products to Barstock Exchange using our internal product ID (not the cust ref!)
  2. Enter your Barstock Exchange token on the settings in the POS
  3. Create a price model called “barstockexchange” (case insensitive)
  4. Attach the barstockexchange price model and a 9999.99 price within to each product participating, this allows configuration of VAT and sales unit

Using the integration

  1. Enable the Barstock Exchange setting on the participating terminals
  2. Switch to the barstockexchange price model on the participating terminals (or automate this, see below)

Optional Recommendations

  • Set your barstockexchange prices to 9999.99 or similar to easily discern if they have not synchronized on the POS or if the product is not participating
  • Set a time profile against your barstockexchange price model to ensure start and end time is synchronised across all participating terminals

Limitations

  • Barstock Exchange seems to only have one price to one product - as far as we know half pints and glasses of wine etc would need to be their own product to be compatible.
  • This integration relies on a stable internet connection to stay in sync with Barstock Exchange

Troubleshooting

  • A pint glass icon is shown on the top right of the POS when the integration is configured
  • Yellow pint glass = connected to Barstock exchange and actively synchronising
  • Check the POS logs - very detailed information is provided for this integration
